  • "We Stand with the Women of Iran #Masha Amini" Building Wrap

    Snapshot of a building wrap, located off a Los Angles-area freeway, showing local support of the Masha Amini Protests against the Iranian government. The protests began in September 2022 after Amini's death in police custody and are ongoing, as of the creation of this resource (July 2023). This photo was taken by MIAOHP contributor, Gary Bennett, near his home in downtown Los Angeles, CA in November 2022, shortly after the protests began in Iran. Bennett, who interviewed Sedigheh Sholeh Karimi in Fall 2022 for MIAOHP, noticed this show of local support and documented it for the MIAOHP Collection.

  • Irani Family Passport

    Iranian Passport issued in 1929 to relatives of MIAOHP interviewee, Ardeshir Irani. The passport contains photographs and identification information for Kaykhosor Sha-Pur (French Transliteration: Chah-Pour) and his son, Rostan, who was 14 years-old. According to his information, Kaykhosor Sha-Pur worked as a tea seller (French: Cafeteur). During the Spring of 1929, the father and son used this passport at several ports of call, including Bushire, Karachi, and Bombay. However, the reason for their travel is unclear.
