About this Interview

Mahin Shad Oveis was born in Estahban, Iran. She attended Ferdowsi University in Mashhad before earning an MA in Persian Literature from Shiraz University. At the time of her interview in 2016, she was the president of the Persia House of Michigan, working on a PhD at Wayne State University in Detroit.  She talks about her transition from her professional life in Iran to the long process of starting over professionally in the US, a process that could only begin after waiting years for an opportunity to emigrate.
