About this Interview

Sarah Hassani was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Iranian parents. She heard about the Michigan Iranian American Oral History Project while she was attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn for her undergraduate studies. In her interview, she discusses her cultural upbringing and how her cultural identity impacts her experiences as a first-generation Iranian-American in Michigan. Hassani also talks about her travels to Iran to visit family, what she loves about being in Iran, and how she stays connected to Iranian culture in the United States.
